The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Participant Service Guarantee and Other Measures) Act 2022 passed both houses of Parliament on 30 March 2022 and received Royal Assent on 1 April 2022. This amendment to the NDIS Act 2013 establishes the Participant Service Guarantee which will improve the experience and outcomes for people with disability who engage with the Scheme.
If you’re 18 or older, you have the right to make decisions about your business with the NDIS. If you’re not able to make decisions, even with support, you will need representative decision-making. The person undertaking this role is called a nominee and they do this voluntarily. The guidelines provide consistency and transparency about how nominee decisions are made and explain the nominee roles and responsibilities. They also provide information about agency-initiated appointments

It includes information on which modifications and supports are funded by the NDIS and the information and assessment required to receive them. The state disability plan (2022–2026) is Victoria’s plan for making things fairer for people with disability. The plan is a key way for the Victorian Government to be accountable for making all parts of the community inclusive and accessible for everyone. The Disability Act 2006 (Vic) requires a new state disability plan to be developed every four years. The plan sets out actions that will help the Victorian Government meet its obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It is also the implementation plan for achieving outcomes under Australia’s disability strategy (2021–2031).

This roadmap aims to address serious health inequities faced by people with intellectual disability. It outlines how we can create a health system where people with intellectual disability are valued, respected and have access to high quality, timely and comprehensive health care.
Operational Guidelines are based on the NDIS Legislation and Rules. They explain what is considered, and how decisions are made based on the legislation. The new guidelines are written in plain English to make it clearer and easier to understand NDIS processes in a more logical way. This single charter of rights across aged care is part of the Single Aged Care Quality Framework and takes effect from 1 July 2019. It replaces the four current charters that relate to care recipients’ rights and responsibilities. The Charter is easy to read and focuses on high-level consumer rights and provides the same rights to all aged care recipients, regardless of the type of care and services they receive.

More Victorians living with disability will be supported to create a meaningful career in the public sector, as part of the state’s first disability employment action plan launched today.
An important law was approved by the Government last week – the “National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Quality and Safeguards Commission and Other Measures) Bill 2017. This means there will be a new organisation in the NDIS set up to keep an eye on things to try to make sure NDIS participants are safe from harm. It is called the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
