Building Ministers agree on co-ordinated implementation of Liveable Housing Design

Commonwealth, state and territory Building Ministers met on Friday to discuss implementation and transition timeframes for the 2022 edition of the National Construction Code (NCC) amongst other things.

Ministers from all States and Territories (except NSW and Western Australia) agreed to a co-ordinated transition period to 1 October 2023 for livable (accessible) housing. NCC 2022 will be available from 1 October 2022 for those who wish to use the new provisions.

Everyone—home builders, owners and renters alike—will benefit from National consistency and certainty in livable housing design
