Accessibility and quality of mental health services in rural and remote Australia

This is a government report into mental health in rural and remote areas.

The Senate committee which has examined regional mental health services over the past year has made a number of recommendations including the following:

  • The development of a national rural and remote mental health strategy that would seek to address the low rates of access to services and workforce shortages.
  • Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments consider the reestablishment of block funding for mental health services and service providers in regional, rural, and remote areas.
