It’s All About Graeme!

Last week we announced that Graeme Innes AM will deliver the keynote address at conference. This is only weeks after he finishes up in his role as Disability DiscriminationCommissioner. The Commission is creating an accessible farewell card to thank him for his remarkable contribution to the Commission.  If you would like to contribute, please send your farewell message to:
[email protected]

Graeme’s final public address as Disability Discrimination Commissioner will be at the National Press Club on 2 July in Canberra.  For more details, visit:

Graeme will also be hosting the “Captains of Change: Q&A with Commissioners, the Public Advocate and the Senior Practitioner” session at the conference, conducted in the style of the ABC TV program Q&A. Join panellists:

  • Laurie Harkin, Disability Services Commissioner
  • Kate Jenkins, Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner
  • Colleen Pearce, Public Advocate
  • Frank Lambrick, Senior Practicioner
  • Bernie Geary, Commissioner for Children and Young People
  • Dr Grant Davies, Acting Health Services Commissioner

Just like the ABC Q&A program, we will take questions from our audience. We will also welcome questions submitted via Twitter, email and YouTube. Stay tuned for instructions on how to do this!

Only six weeks to go until the 2014 Strengthening Disability Advocacy Conference. Check out the conference website for the latest program information and to register: https://www.daru.org.au/strengthening-disability-advocacy-conference

All sessions held in the main plenary room will be live captioned.  Make sure you let us know about any other support needs you have when you register.
