The newly established Victorian Agriculture and Climate Change Council (VACCC) is a ministerial advisory council, providing independent and strategic advice to the Minister for Agriculture on the agriculture sector and how it can respond to the impacts of climate change. The VACCC is expected to meet up to four times per year and will be comprised of a Chairperson and up to eight Members representing a broad range of industry and community stakeholders.
The VACC is currently seeking expressions of interest for the role of Chairperson. This role is to provide impartial high-level leadership for the Council and to guide members to deliver superior advice and support to the Minister for Agriculture and Agriculture Victoria.
The Victorian Government is committed to delivering strong and lasting action on climate change for the agriculture sector, which is already experiencing changes in Victoria’s climate first-hand. This includes working with industry to support action already being taken, and to maximise the opportunities for the sector as we transition to a climate resilient community and a net zero emissions economy.
The Victorian Government is committed to increasing diversity on advisory councils including increasing the number of women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians, people with disability, people who are culturally diverse, LGBTIQ, non-binary and young people (aged 18-30). Suitably qualified candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.Apply now (off-site)
