2021 AEDC National Report

Every three years, the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) is conducted to examine how children have developed by the time they commence school.

Key findings from the 2021 AEDC data found that children who started school in 2021 experienced some disruption to their early learning, but at a glance, the majority of children were developmentally on track on all five domains.

Results from the 2021 AEDC highlight the importance of ensuring that children are well supported over the coming years with a focus on mitigating impacts for families most affected in their access to employment, social support, and early education and care.
