The Gender and Disability Workforce Development Team at Women with Disabilities Victoria is excited to offer our updated professional development program on the Prevention of Violence Against Women with Disabilities (PVAWD) in April and May 2024.

Session 1: Introduction to Prevention of Violence against Women with Disabilities (Prerequisite for Sessions 2 and 3)

  • New models of understanding disability and addressing ableism

 

Session 2: Gender and Disability Drivers of Violence

  • How our everyday actions and practice can contribute to violence against women with disabilities
  • How gender and disability equitable practice can create change to end violence
  • Introducing concepts of inclusive and accessible practice

 

Session 3: Prevention in Action 

  • Strategies and tools to prevent violence against women with disabilities
  • Resistance and backlash
  • Bystander action
