Lead the way workshop: Navigating formal supports

There are a lot of supports and schemes for people with disabilities provided by federal and state governments, as well as other service based organisations. It can be difficult to know what they are, how they work, and how to apply for them.

This workshop will go through various supports, including

NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
DSP (Disability Support Pension)
Companion card – discounted prices for support people at paid events
Travel pass – MYKI discounts
Multi Purpose Taxi Program – taxi and Uber discounts
Disability Parking permits
MLAK (Master Lock Access Keys) – access to locked accessible facilities such as bathrooms, elevators, play equipment, etc.
Traveller’s Aid – support when using public transport at certain stations
You’ll also hear others share their experiences (both positive and negative) of applying for and using these supports.

You will be able to ask questions to panellists, as well as a professional disability advocate.
