The patient had planned his suicide. But the crisis team was busy

Victoria’s crisis assessment and treatment teams are the front line for the most mentally unwell people in the state, but GPs who try to get hold of them often can’t get through.

Some CAT teams are reportedly so swamped doctors have dubbed them “call again tomorrow” or “can’t attend today”, as they are told there is no one available to respond to their suicidal or psychotic patients.
