Supporting Decision Making

This guide has been developed to provide managers and staff across all disability funded programs with:

  • an overarching statement of Disability Services’ position in relation to supporting people to make decisions as part of self-directed approaches
  • helpful hints for implementing practical solutions to a range of issues such as hearing the voice of people with a disability, managing differences of opinion, enabling people to learn from their experiences etc
  • clarity of terminology for consistent use (e.g. that ‘supporting’ decision making is different to ‘supported’ decision making)

The document is available in booklet form and as a download from the Disability Services website.
