SA moves to better protect disabled people in court cases

It’s been four years since an alleged paedophile walked free in South Australia without a trial. The bus driver was accused of abusing intellectually-disabled children, but charges against him were dropped because the children were seen as unreliable witnesses.

Now the state is on the verge of significant changes to the justice system that could alter how similar cases are handled.

The bill extends to victims, witnesses and defendants.
