National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Quality and Safeguards Commission and Other Measures) Bill 2017

The Bill establishes a new organisation to keep an eye on things to try to make sure NDIS participants are safe from harm. It is called the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

The Commission will register providers, respond to complaints and reports of abuse or neglect, and provide advice on key issues (such as the use of physical restraints). The commission will also work with states and territories on a nationally consistent policy for screening workers.

Independent advocacy is included in the Bill
