First Dog on the Moon

Award winning Cartoonist for the Guardian

Andrew Marlton (aka First Dog on the Moon)is the editorial cartoonist for the Guardian Australia. He won a Walkley award in 2012 for his cartoon ‘Drowning’ and was named the MOAD cartoonist of the year in 2011. He wrote and illustrated The Story of the Christmas Story and illustrated The Wombat and the Grand Poohjam with children’s author Jackie French.

His successful stage show ‘Cartoobs and Other Typos’ featured in 2013’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival and won the Tour Ready Award at 2012’s Melbourne Fringe Festival. He has held a number of exhibitions including two at Platform Public Art Space underneath Flinders St Station, A Marsupial Life’ and ‘The Universe According to First Dog on the Moon. First Dog on the Moon’s Guide to Modern Living is presented every Sunday at 9.55am on ABC’s Radio National, and is he currently the official cartoonist for the Western Bulldogs.
